This slow cooker recipe tugs on the heart-strings of meat lovers everywhere. It's savory flavor can be found rooted in the bacon and pork meat fats, though everything coalesces through the late addition of chicken broth and vinegar. This simple yet tasty meal can be prepared in a regular slow cooker, and involves relatively little preparation time.

Method

    Place onions, cabbage, thyme, allspice, salt and pepper ingredients into a 6 quart slow cooker or crock pot equivalent.

    On range cook bacon over medium-high heat until it begins to crisp, approximately 5 minutes.

    Place bacon and bacon grease into the crock pot on top of ingredients

    Cook pork chops in pan over high heat with organic coconut oil or other vegetable oil suited for high heat use, for approximately 8-10 minutes or until brown.

    Place cooked pork chops into slow cooker, covering them completely with cabbage and other ingredients

    Add chicken broth and vinegar to pork chop pan over medium heat and scrape bits from pan, then pour mixture into slow cooker.

    Cook on low heat for approximately 3 hours, or until the meat breaks apart from slight pressure.
